At Lister’s Crisps, our mission is steeped in tradition and driven by an unwavering commitment to crafting the finest hand-cooked crisps. Our story begins not in a boardroom or a factory, but in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside – on our family farm in Howden, East Yorkshire.
We’re Tom and Laura Platt, proud farmers and founders of Lister’s Crisps, living and working alongside our daughter, Autumn. Ours is a life that revolves around the land, where the fields, crops, and crisp factory are all part of one family ecosystem. Every day, we’re right there in the middle of the action — from planting the potatoes to hand-cooking the crisps that carry our name.
For us, Yorkshire Crisps are more than just a snack; they’re a reflection of our roots, our values, and our love for great-tasting food made the right way.
Generations in the Making
Farming runs through our veins. We’re proud to say we’re third- and fourth-generation farmers, continuing a legacy built on hard work, respect for the land, and a shared belief that quality always comes first. Our family has farmed the fertile fields of Yorkshire for decades, growing everything from wheat and barley to oats and oil seed rape, alongside our own herd of beef cattle.

From Field to Fryer: A True Farm-to-Bag Story
Our family farm isn’t just where the journey begins – it’s where every stage of crisp-making happens.
The potatoes used for Lister’s Crisps are grown right here on our own land, ensuring we have complete control over quality and freshness from seed to slice. Once harvested, the potatoes travel just a short distance across the yard to our on-site crisp factory, where they’re carefully hand-cooked in small batches.
This farm-to-bag process guarantees that every bag of Lister’s Crisps captures the flavour, crunch, and authenticity that only true Yorkshire Crisps can deliver. Each batch is made with care, attention, and a genuine love for the craft – because we believe you can taste the difference that comes from doing things properly.
Handmade with Heart
When we launched Lister’s Crisps, our goal was simple – to create crisps that people remember. Crisps with that perfect crunch, rich flavour, and a taste that takes you straight to the heart of Yorkshire.
For us, “handmade” isn’t a marketing phrase; it’s a way of working. It means real people watching over each stage of the process, ensuring that no bag leaves our factory unless it meets our exacting standards.
We’re proud of our range – from the deep savoury richness of Steak and Ale with Caramelised Onion to the timeless simplicity of Sea Salt and the gentle warmth of Sweet Chilli. Each flavour is crafted to honour local tastes and ingredients, delivering a crisp that’s full of character and unmistakably Yorkshire.
Family, Heritage, and the Future
Running Lister’s Crisps is more than a business for us – it’s a family journey. It’s early mornings in the fields, late nights in the factory, and moments spent watching Autumn grow up surrounded by the same countryside that shaped us. We want her to see that great things grow from the ground up – quite literally.
Our Yorkshire Crisps embody that story: a combination of heritage, hard work, and a love for simple, honest food. Every crunch connects the past to the present, celebrating where we’ve come from and the future we’re building.
As our farm continues to thrive, we’re excited about what lies ahead. One thing will never change, though: our commitment to quality, family, and Yorkshire craftsmanship. Because for us, it’s not just about making crisps – it’s about sharing a taste of Yorkshire tradition, one bag at a time.
