At Lister’s Crisps, every bag starts in the field, not in a factory.

We’re Tom and Laura Platt, nestled on our family farm in Howden, East Yorkshire, where two daughters often joins us.
Right here, on the same land, we grow the potatoes and run our crisp factory – so every step is local, intentional, and under our watch.
As third- and fourth-generation farmers, we planted the seed of Lister’s Crisps in 2019 and haven’t looked back.
Alongside our potato fields, we also cultivate wheat, barley, oats, oilseed rape, and rear a small herd of beef cattle. But making crisps? That’s where our passion really takes root.
Grown and Harvested on Our Farm
Every bag of Lister’s contains our own home‑grown Yorkshire potatoes. Grown on fertile, well‑draining land in East Yorkshire, the varieties we use are chosen for flavour, texture, and year‑round harvest potential.
We even use GPS and N‑sensor technology to care for our soil sustainably. We harvest at just the right time: firm, flavourful, and ready for crisping.
Then the potatoes are washed, graded on‑site, and prepared for slicing – all within a few steps of our onsite production line.
Hand‑Cooked in Small Batches
Unlike mass‑produced snacks, Lister’s crisps are hand‑cooked in small batches using traditional fryers. That slower, more deliberate cooking method ensures a golden crunch and authentic potato flavour in every batch. Each crisp is carefully watched and seasoned while still warm to lock in flavour.
We season delicately using precision‑mixed blends- whether Cheddar Cheese & Onion, Sea Salted, Sweet Chilli, Prawn Cocktail, Sea Salt & Cider Vinegar, or Steak, Ale & Caramelised Onion, every bite is the result of rigorous taste testing and quality control at every step.
Each flavour is carefully balanced to enhance, not overpower, the natural potato taste – a crunch-first experience that’s become our signature. From bold and smoky to sharp and tangy, our range reflects the variety of real Yorkshire palettes, with something for every kind of crisp lover.
Built on Sustainability
We’re proud to be a sustainable crisps brand. That starts by keeping food miles low, because everything from growing to packing happens right here on the farm. We use recyclable packaging and partner locally to handle food and oil waste responsibly.
Future plans include expanding solar power across the site and exploring wind energy, in a continued effort to reduce our carbon footprint and preserve the land for generations.
